Speaking to supporters at a campaign rally in Virginia, Trump said those countries disrespected current U.S. President Joe Biden.
“We have external enemies — China, Russia, North Korea. But if you have a smart president, they’re not really enemies. They’re not enemies, and that makes them important,” Trump said.
He reiterated that he would be able to resolve the Ukraine war after he wins the election and before he enters the White House, but he did not say how.
Trump said during Thursday’s debate that Russian President Vladimir Putin’s conditions for ending the conflict in Ukraine were unacceptable.
Trump’s aides say his top priority in a second term will be to end the conflict in Ukraine as quickly as possible.
