Suriname and Poland further strengthened diplomatic relations during the working visit of Polish Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Jakub Wisniewski to Suriname.
Elizabeth Bradley, Director of the International Cooperation Department of the Suriname Ministry of Foreign Affairs, met with Wisniewski on Friday, June 28, 2024, and expressed appreciation for the opportunity to deepen cooperation in various fields.
During the visit, Bradley stressed the importance of scientific and educational cooperation and emphasized the opportunities in the agricultural sector. Bradley said that Poland, as a major producer of agricultural products, provides Suriname with opportunities to improve agricultural practices and enhance food security.
Cooperation between the Polish Investment and Trade Agency and the Suriname Trade and Investment Agency is also being explored.
In addition, Bradley proposed signing a treaty of friendship and cooperation between the two countries to formalize bilateral relations. She also stressed the importance of “people-to-people” contacts and talked about Suriname’s candidacy for a non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council (2043-2044).
“The future offers tremendous opportunities for our two countries to work together for shared prosperity and a stronger international community,” Bradley said.
