The local government plans to destroy a total of 1,208 kg of drugs at a high-pressure incinerator in Wanathavilluwa, Puttalam today (29th).
Earlier, the Aluthkade District Court directed the destruction of the seized drugs, which included 614 kg of methamphetamine, 581 kg of ketamine and 13 kg of heroin.
The process will begin with transporting the illegal substance from the Aluthkade district court to the incinerator in Puttalam.
The incinerator, located in the Lactose Garden area of Vanathavilluwa on 20 acres of land, was installed under the supervision of the Special Task Force (STF).
The Sri Lanka Navy was responsible for site preparation, while the Sri Lanka Police allocated Rs. 6.34 million for preparations to ensure that all necessary infrastructure and security measures were in place for the operation.
