New Delhi: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, known for his keen fashion sense, donned a colorful turban during India’s 75th Republic Day celebrations, with the prominent yellow color symbolizing the color of Lord Rama.
The choice of yellow has profound significance, echoing PM Modi’s recent participation in the Pran Pratishtha ceremony at Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Mandir in Ayodhya, emphasising his reverence for Lord Rama.
Wearing a gorgeous Rajasthani Bandini print turban, a white kurta, pyjamas and a brown Nehru jacket, PM Modi embodied his patriotic fervor and embraced India’s diverse culture.
This is not the first time that Prime Minister Modi has opted for a striking turban. His tradition of donning the distinctive turban for state occasions began in 2014, reflecting his commitment to preserving traditions and celebrating India’s rich heritage.
From the tri-color themed turban that symbolizes the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ initiative in 2022 to the saffron turban with intricate red patterns that he wore during his 8th Independence Day speech, Prime Minister Modi’s choice of turban reflects reverence for the national spirit.
The Republic Day celebrations kicked off with a flag hoisting ceremony by President Drupadi Murmu, followed by the national anthem and a 21-gun salute. French President Emmanuel Macron attended the event as the chief guest, symbolizing the friendship between India and France.
Ahead of the celebrations, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended warm wishes to the nation through social media, stressing the importance of the 75th Republic Day. The parade featured 25 panels showcasing India’s cultural diversity and military prowess, reaffirming India’s commitment to progress and unity.
India’s Republic Day is celebrated on January 26 every year, commemorating the adoption of the Indian Constitution in 1950, marking India’s democratic foundations and commitment to sovereignty.
