A 28-year-old man was arrested by Special Investigations Bureau employees for violating the privacy of a 13-year-old girl.
The investigation established that on March 13, 2024, the 13-year-old victim met the defendant on the social network “Tiktok”. They communicated daily through Facebook/Messenger video calls, during which the defendant threatened to ask the minor to get naked. While communicating through video calls, the minor noticed that the defendant was taking “screenshots” as he called him. He asked the defendant to delete photos of intimate content. In April, the victim stopped contacting the defendant and blocked him on social networks, and did not answer his calls and text messages. Shortly thereafter, nude photos of the minor were circulated on the social network Tiktok. Intimate photos of the girl were also sent to her friends. In addition, unidentified persons contacted the 13-year-old victim on social networks, threatening to send her private photos to her mother.
After receiving inquiries from the underage victim, the Special Investigation Division immediately launched an investigation. Through operational and investigative actions, the defendant’s identity and location were determined. A search of his mobile phone revealed private videos and photos of a 13-year-old girl, which will be destroyed in accordance with the law.
Other private photos of underage girls were also found in the defendant’s mobile phone. The Special Investigation Division will take all necessary investigative actions in this regard.
The Special Investigations Unit provides psychological rehabilitation courses for underage victims and their representatives to recover from the psychological trauma caused by the crime.
The accused was arrested for the crime provided for in article 157 of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
The offence carries a maximum penalty of seven years in prison.
The Special Investigations Division is continuing to investigate the above facts.
