On July 8, the Dutch Caribbean Care and Youth Organization (ZJCN) will launch the Health Care Card on Sint Eustatius. It was launched on April 22 on Saba and Bonaire will follow later this year. The Health Care Card is a personal card designed to help insured residents of the Dutch Caribbean get emergency medical care abroad. This concerns urgent medical treatment that cannot be postponed.

Health insurance card as proof of insurance

The health insurance card replaces the insurance certificate. From now on, the insured person no longer needs to go to Get proof of insurance from the ZJCN office before travelling. The health card contains the insured person’s details as well as the ZJCN’s contact information. In the event of a medical emergency while abroad, you should contact the ZJCN as soon as possible. In addition, the health card can be used in pharmacies and laboratories on Sint Eustatius.

Zorgpas is not travel insurance

The health insurance card is designed to cover medical emergencies abroad that cannot be deferred. ZJCN recommends that all residents of the Caribbean Netherlands purchase travel insurance before travelling abroad.
