VIDEO/PHOTOS: A fire at an abandoned warehouse on Santa Cruz Lane in Anígua caused heavy smoke and temporarily closed the road early Wednesday morning, according to Lt. Nick Garrido, a spokesman for the Guam Fire Department. Garrido said GFD units had the fire under control at 4:30 a.m., two and a half hours after the GFD was called to the fire for reports of a structure fire. Firefighters found an “abandoned warehouse approximately 100 feet by 100 feet” on fire. Due to the heavy smoke at the time, the GFD asked people in the area to shelter in place, close windows, turn off air conditioning, or temporarily evacuate if sheltering in place is not possible. West O’Brien Avenue between Sixth and Seventh streets was also closed at the time.
