“I’m very happy with the players I have now. We’ve been working hard to develop chemistry, and looking forward, I see significant progress,” said Suri (right).

Solomon Islands Men’s U19 head coach Bartram Suli has released the 23-man squad that will compete in the OFC Men’s U19 Championship in Samoa from July 5 to 18.

At a press conference on Tuesday, the former national team player revealed that the team mainly comprises of last season’s Singapore League U19 players, as well as three standout players from the province.

“I’m very happy with the players I have now. We’ve been working hard to develop chemistry, and looking forward, I see significant progress,” said Suri.

Joining Suri as coach is Franco Ne’e, who has led the Solomon Warriors to two South African Telecom S-League titles.

This is Ney’s first time as national team coach. Despite the national team’s recent challenges, including failure to qualify in regional competitions at club level and an early exit in the men’s senior league, both coaches are optimistic about the U19 team’s prospects.

“We’re always committed to getting our players to the highest level,” Nee said.

“It’s a new challenge for me, especially with the national team. I’m honored to learn with Bartram and help our young players grow.”
