New Delhi (India), June 27 (ANI): In a bid to boost bilateral ties, German Ambassador Philipp Ackermann celebrated the entry of North Indian mangoes into the European market and stressed that Europeans “should also enjoy high-quality mangoes”.
Ackermann expressed his excitement, saying: “I’m excited because everyone knows how much I love mangoes.” He pointed out that mangoes from Brazil and West Africa currently dominate European supermarkets, adding: “Europeans deserve to eat good quality mangoes from South Asia, especially India.” “So what we have now is indeed the first mangoes from North India. Several mangoes are on their way to Belgium. I think it’s a very good sign that North Indian mangoes are making their way to Europe, especially Germany,” he added.
The scheme, implemented in partnership with the Indian Ministry of Agriculture, aims to create a sustainable framework for regular exports of Indian agricultural products to Germany and other European countries.
Ackermann highlighted the potential for deepening economic cooperation, noting: “These agricultural collaborations have huge potential.” The introduction of various North Indian mango varieties to the Belgian market marks an important step in diversifying Europe’s mango imports. Ackermann expressed hope that this move will lead to broader agricultural cooperation between India and Germany and increase trade opportunities.
Ambassador Ackermann acknowledged the dominance of imported mangoes from Brazil and West Africa in European supermarkets and stressed the importance of diversifying the market through high-quality Indian products.
Ackermann also stressed Germany’s cultural openness to Indian cuisine and stressed the importance of introducing high-quality Indian mangoes to Europe.
