Markus Söder as guest of the “Innas Evening”

Many in the alliance currently believe that Bavaria will Marcus Sodder Too boring. The 57-year-old owner of CSU needs a new purpose in life. After his appearance on Inus Night, one gets the impression that the Bavarian chancellor might be better off in the entertainment world. In any case, the one-hour show is pure gold for long conversations.

Mueller asks a tieless Sodder if he normally wears a tie. Sodder: “For serious shows, yes.” When he points out that according to Mueller, his hair doesn’t thin out with age, which wasn’t the case with his father. Mueller points out that you don’t inherit your hair from your father, but from his mother, to which Sodder replies that his mother had hair, too. Sodder talks about former green classmates who wore weird parkas and sang Hotel California. Mueller: “That was cool.” Sodder: “I thought it was badass.” You: “Colorado State is awesome, right?”

In the more serious shows, Sood tends to make himself fairly independent of the issues and women involved, and answer what he wants to get out of it anyway. Ina Mueller. With her show she creates a format where even someone like Soder is willing to give more than usual, even you. And that’s worth a lot. People like Lanz often just pretend to take advantage of asymmetrical interview situations to tease something new out of their interviewees. Müller actually manages to do this, and to do it informally, although the narrow confines of the show, which has been recorded with an audience in a seamen’s bar since 2007, might reinforce a feeling that there is no escape anyway. In any case, Soder even showed that he dares not only to imitate a singer on the stage of the Abba Museum in Stockholm, but to really sing. His rendition of Freddie Quinn’s Her Name Was Mary Ann was not bad.

Another strength of “Night of Inas” is that the host throws himself into all things sentimental, without any ifs or buts. It shows that all the northern lights that Soder apparently believed were like this, but that they weren’t. Olaf ScholzMueller’s apathy refers to instances of drinking without warning on the show, although to Soder’s surprise, Mueller seemed incapable of tolerating as much as her habit would suggest.

Mueller’s performance in the erotic field is particularly painless, which in itself should please Soder, the master of painlessness (at least in politics). After Mueller entertained his second guest, Felix Neusercrawling between her legs (“I don’t know how it’s any different from you,” the former ski star said), she asked the CSU boss about his social media activities. Soder admitted that he sometimes makes himself “a fruit,” a kind of Horst, just think of his meat or egg column.

“You kind of want that, too,” Mueller, who is nearly the same age as Soder and like his wife is blonde, said of the sometimes critical feedback on Soder’s Instagram posts. “And then Soder looks at her like someone who knows that’s not the case.” About fruit, but about forbidden fruit.

At another point, Mueller asked Soeder what was on his official calendar if he had to go for a urology check-up. Here, the father of four acted as if Mueller were asking him about his chancellor ambitions. In left-wing alternative discussion circles, which are dominated by women, there is a frequent debate about whether Soeder is “very good in bed,” but Soeder answered the question tactfully: “I go to bed very early.”

Then there was the question of possible tattoos, including those in private areas. Mueller specifically wanted to know from Soder whether he had an anchor tattooed “on the bag.” Then Neusser had to admit, half with admiration and half with disbelief, that he had never heard anyone ask the prime minister whether he had an anchor.

During the show, Soder also revealed what roles he likes besides being a performer: If Americans have to pronounce “Chancellor”, then they always say “Mr. President”. There is still a lot of convincing to do before he goes to Germany – there is such speculation – especially in the far north where there is Ina Mueller, who, after seeing the broadcast, apparently believes that Soder’s birthplace Nuremberg is near the Alps.

If anything, it was their only faux pas of the night – and after his humorous appearance, Soder could also be right that he is still, in fact, what he calls “cute”, at least during his time in the Bundeswehr.
