Emils acknowledged that it was a great honor for the EKA Director General that the implementation of the project was entrusted directly to the youth program representative, who is the only representative of the Latvian state in the EKA youth program “Young Graduate Trainees”. . “YPSat” will indeed be responsible for the first flight of the rocket, but more on that later. First, a few words about how Emil got into work at EKA.

Some of Emil’s classmates are working NASAwhich was quite natural – he received his education in aerospace engineering and test flight engineering at the Florida Institute of Technology in the United States. But what should Europeans do? Of course, you should aim for EKA! “Just a few months before I received my master’s degree, Latvia became an associate member of the European Space Agency. I immediately applied, but the first time I was not even invited to an interview,” says the engineer.

The next year was spent in Latvia until he could apply again. The second time was successful, and Emil began working for ESA, studying issues affecting the safety of human space flight.
