President Biden’s The campaign welcomed a series of events hosted by independent Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont in the key swing state of Wisconsin aimed at rallying workers ahead of the 2024 election, where former President Trump also issued his own appeal to the group.
Sanders will hold a total of six “Building Working Class Power” events across Wisconsin from Wednesday to Saturday, including in Mount Pleasant, Sheboygan, Kaukauna, Stevens Point, Eau Claire and La Crosse.
“we are very happy Senator Bernie Sanders Campaign in Wisconsin for the only candidate in this race who’s fighting for working people: Joe Biden,” Timothy White, the Biden campaign’s Wisconsin press secretary, said in a statement to Fox News Digital.
“While President Biden is holding Big Pharma accountable, lowering prescription drug costs, and building an economy that works for everyone, Trump is focused solely on providing tax subsidies to his billionaire friends and big corporations.”

The independent senator’s rally is aimed at “building working-class power,” according to a press release.
The Biden campaign noted that the rallies were not related to the president’s re-election campaign.
“Bernie Sanders may be an independent, but everyone recognizes that this election is about more than just party affiliation,” said Max Burns, a Democratic strategist. “It is incumbent on all of us to make sure Donald Trump never steps foot in the White House again, and Bernie’s big rallies are a great sign of unity for progressives and centrists.”
Trump leads Biden in the state, which last voted for a Republican presidential candidate in 2004.

He added: “Bernie has always had a huge following in Wisconsin, and it’s great to see him working together with Biden to ensure these voters support democracy in November.”
Notably, Sanders defeated Hillary Clinton by double digits in the 2016 Wisconsin Democratic presidential primary. However, Clinton became the candidate before she faced off against Trump.
“This is an all-hands-on-deck moment, and Senator Sanders is a powerful voice for working people,” explained Eric Schultz, a senior advisor to former President Barack Obama. “In November, it’s all about hardworking Americans, and Senator Sanders is uniquely positioned to make the case that we need leadership in Washington that has the support of working people.”

Democratic strategist Brad Bannon similarly noted Sanders’ commitment to preventing Trump from becoming president again and the opportunity to push back on the senator’s priorities, saying that “any hope for universal health care and addressing climate change will be completely gone if he is elected president.”
However, he said there may be more to it than that motivating Sanders to go on his worker tours, which also took him to Ohio and New York this summer.
Bannon said the Vermont congressman, who is running for re-election this year, could also run for labor secretary in a second Biden term. “He might still want to be labor secretary,” he said.
Biden revealed in 2021 that he was considering Sanders for a position in his administration, but did not give the position to Sanders due to Sanders’ majority in the Senate and the possibility that Vermont would vote Republican.
“Bernie and I both agreed — in fact, Bernie said — ‘We cannot put control of the Senate at risk on the outcome of the special election in Vermont,'” Biden said in announcing Boston Mayor Marty Walsh as the mayor-elect. The Daily Beast reports then.
A White House spokesman disputed whether the administration was actively considering potential Cabinet nominees for reelection.
The senator did not comment when asked by Fox News Digital if he would accept the position.

As Trump and Biden battle for a key bloc of voters, Sanders made inroads in worker-heavy Wisconsin, meeting with the Teamsters union and speaking to a group of members during a strike by the United Auto Workers union.

“Bernie Sanders is a proud socialist who has built his entire political career on taking money from hardworking people and giving it back to a corrupt government,” Trump campaign spokeswoman Carolyn Levitt told Fox News Digital in a statement.
“If Biden and Bernie get another four years, they will sign the largest tax increase in American history, which will cost the average working Wisconsin family nearly $40,000 a year, on top of record high inflation. President Trump will lower inflation, make gas cheap again, and pass more tax cuts to put more money back in the pockets of workers and families,” she said.
