Applications for the 2024 Individual Support Grant will open on October 16, 2023. The application deadline for the 2024 grant cycle is January 17, 2024 at 11:59 PM EST.
The foundation hopes to encourage artists who dedicate their life to the development of their art, regardless of their level of commercial success.
Please note that these grants are only available to individual painters, sculptors and printmakers who have been working in the mature stage of their art for 20 years or more.
The Gottlieb Foundation does not support organizations, educational institutions, students, graphic artists, or people working in crafts. Photography, film, video, or related formats are not eligible for funding, unless the work directly relates to or can be interpreted as painting or sculpture. The Foundation does not support exhibitions, installations, or projects of any kind.
Last year, the foundation awarded $25,000 grants each to 20 artists.
The program is designed to recognize and support serious, committed artists who we hope will consider applying. Twenty grants are awarded each year. Applications are reviewed by a panel of five arts professionals who are not affiliated with the Foundation in any way. To be considered for this program, the following criteria must be met:
maturity
Successful applicants will be able to demonstrate that they have been in a mature stage of artistic development for at least 20 years. Maturity is determined by the level of BroadCast Unitedlectual, technical, and creative development maintained during this period. Artists must demonstrate that their primary commitment is to achieving their artistic goals, regardless of other personal or financial responsibilities. Artists must be engaged in painting, sculpture, or printmaking.
Financial Needs
In addition to maturity requirements, eligibility for individual support grants is based on the applicant’s current financial need. Each applicant must complete the financial disclosure section in full and submit the appropriate financial documentation.
Please note that applicants who have received three or more individual support grants from the Foundation will no longer be eligible to apply.
