(CNS): Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a single-vehicle accident that occurred early Saturday morning. RCIPS said officers patrolling Bodden Town observed the accident on Shamrock Road near the intersection of Christian Berry Drive at approximately 1:45 a.m. The four occupants of the Honda Civic were injured. They were aided by paramedics at the scene and subsequently transported to the Cayman Islands Hospital, where they were treated for injuries that appeared to be serious but not life-threatening.
Currently, one person has been discharged from the hospital, and the rest are still receiving treatment in the hospital. Other details of the accident have not been disclosed, but the car was seriously damaged.
This serious collision comes as the RCIPS launches another targeted road safety campaign to encourage safe driving and reduce Cayman’s high road collision rate.
“We take this opportunity to remind road users to avoid unsafe driving behaviours such as speeding, distracted driving, driving without a seatbelt and of course drink driving,” said Chief Superintendent Brad Ebanks. “Accidents will happen but taking these steps will help reduce the frequency and severity of motor vehicle collisions on our roads.”
