Danish dairy farmers face an annual tax of 672 kroner (about $96 per cow) for the global warming emissions they produce.

The country’s coalition government agreed this week to impose the world’s first carbon tax on agriculture.

This means that new taxes will be imposed on livestock from 2030.

Denmark is a major exporter of dairy products and pork, and agriculture is the country’s largest source of emissions.
