On Monday, Aruba celebrated the Feast of St. John, better known as “Draguye” by the people of Aruba. It was celebrated in several places around Aruba.
This year marks the second year in a row that the Sabaneta Neighborhood Center has hosted the San Juan/De La Gay Festival and once again it was a success. Vanessa de Kort, Program Director at the Sabaneta Neighborhood Center, said first that despite being on a Monday, many people celebrated the day with other members and residents of Sabaneta and the surrounding areas.
There was also an exhibition of Dera Gay paintings tonight, and the children of Traimerdia painted some of Dera Gay’s works. The talent of the children of Traimerdia is truly amazing.

There was also a play tonight, directed by another gay singer, Ferdinand Franca, which was also well received by the audience. Kevin Gumbs also performed their dance.
