The National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party has approved the formation of a new National Campaign Committee for gubernatorial elections ahead of the Edo and Ondo State elections.
The inauguration ceremony is scheduled for Thursday, July 27, and is aimed at ensuring victory in the upcoming elections.
This was disclosed in a statement issued to the party by the National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, on Wednesday.
The statement read: “The People’s Democratic Party will inaugurate the Edo and Ondo State gubernatorial elections tomorrow, June 27, 2024.
“The National Working Committee (NWC) of our great political party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in exercise of its mandate and in line with its commitment to ensure victory of our party in the forthcoming gubernatorial elections in Edo and Ondo States, approves the establishment of the National Campaign Committee for the Edo and Ondo State Governorship Election with the following composition:
“Date: Thursday, June 27, 2024.
“Venue: NEC Hall, PDP National Secretariat, Wadata Square, Wuse 5, Abuja
“Time: 2 p.m. sharp.
“All leaders, key stakeholders and members of the National Campaign Committee for the Edo and Ondo State gubernatorial elections should take note and direct accordingly.”
The gubernatorial elections in Edo and Ondo states are scheduled for September 21 and November 16, 2024, respectively.
Meanwhile, Asue Ighodalo emerged as the PDP candidate in Edo State earlier this year while Ajayi Agboola won the PDP primary in Ondo State.
