Tazabek – President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov Today, 25 June, as part of a working visit to the Kingdom of Belgium, I met in Brussels with the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, in both narrow and extended formats.

Taking into account the EU’s “Global Gate” strategy, President Sadyr Japarov proposed to join the Kambar-Ata-1 hydropower plant construction project.

The head of state also noted that currently cooperation in the field of rare metals is considered one of the most important areas in the Republic. He invited potential investors and financial institutions to cooperate in the implementation of rare metal projects.

It is estimated that the country has 17 important metals of interest to European countries, 10 of which have large reserves: europium, gadolinium, niobium, lithium, etc.

Sadyr Japarov pointed out that in 2006, Kyrgyzstan and its airlines were included in the “EU Aviation Safety List” or “Prohibited Airlines List” for not complying with flight safety requirements. Since then, Kyrgyz aircraft have stopped flying to EU countries.

The Kyrgyz side recalled that in the past two years, the country has rebuilt four airports and plans to build a new airport in Jalalabad. A special decree on improving the activities of the National Civil Aviation Authority was issued.
