According to the latest 1News Verian poll, National’s support has increased since the budget was announced.
The poll showed National up 2 points to 38 per cent, ACT unchanged at 7 per cent and New Zealand First up 2 points to 6 per cent, surpassing the 5 per cent threshold.
The result would keep the coalition government in power.
On the left, Labour fell one point to 29 per cent, the Greens fell one point to 13 per cent and Te Pāti Maori fell one point to three per cent.

In the Prime Ministerial candidate poll, Christopher Luxon’s support is steady at 23 per cent, while Labour leader Chris Hipkins’s support has risen two points to 16 per cent.

- Winston Peters: 4%
- David Seymour: 4%, down 1
- Jacinda Ardern: 1%
The poll, which surveyed 1,002 eligible voters by cell phone and online and was weighted for demographic factors, has a 95 percent confidence interval and a margin of error of 3.1 percentage points. The survey was conducted June 15-19.
Polls are compared to recent polls by the same polling firm, as different polls may use different methodologies. Polls are designed to track trends in voting preferences and present a snapshot in time, rather than to predict the final election outcome with complete accuracy.
