As the date of the party’s reconvening of the fourth round of the People’s Assembly elections in the Hama governorate approaches next Thursday, the 27th of this month, the propaganda campaign of the Baath Party candidates has exploded on the Facebook pages of the party. Candidates and their families, relatives and friends, as well as public institutions run by activists and media figures, some of whom activists have explicitly announced to publish photos of candidates and their propaganda to benefit from the widespread spread of their pages and a large number of followers, because it is a good opportunity for the owners of these pages to get a good financial return in this period of busy propaganda campaigns, and some of these pages are free friendship, neighborhood, chivalry, or fear!
Many candidates have also stepped up visits to party teams in their region and other parts of the governorate to win the favor of Ennahdha voters and canvass for votes on the resumption of classes day, which will be held at the amphitheater of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Hama University and cultural centers in Salamiyeh, Masyaf and Suqaylabiya.
The campaign of the independent candidates showed substantial differences between them, the poor among them content with their social media pages in their electoral propaganda, which do nothing more than post their personal photos and some phrases and sentences aimed at gaining the support of the citizens and their sympathy for them in this electoral struggle, where they hope to make this election a turning point, which is very important for the work of the Council, the fight against corruption and the fight against corrupt elements and those who hinder the improvement of the living conditions of the country and the progress of the national economy.
The young people among them call on citizens to stand with them and express their determination through voting, which will bring about fundamental changes through the entry of young abilities, creativity and great energy into Parliament, capable of bringing changes to legislative work and effective supervision of government performance.
As for the wealthy candidates, most of them were “big businessmen”, “tribal chiefs” and celebrities, they occupied road billboards with huge photos and deliberately forced convoys and workers to unfurl banners (Flex) and pasted their colorful drawings on the walls of public and private buildings, mosques, government departments, garden fences and trees, schools and university colleges, and even on road signs between cities and villages.
Citizens confirmed that many of these candidates visited them in their areas and distributed food baskets and in-kind assistance to them, promising them to pave dirt roads, solve the garbage dump problem they have suffered from for years, provide them with phone and internet services, and solve the shortage of drinking water if they are elected.
Residents of the town of Tardla in western Salamieh countryside said delegations were flooding villages, visiting acquaintances, close associates and officials in a bid to win people’s favor and votes.
They added: “As usual, at every election event, you see luxurious air-conditioned cars, people in official uniforms coming here, walking around with a smile on their faces, and when the event is over, you can’t see if they are successful or not. No, they emphasize that their votes will only be cast for those who serve the country.”
Several heads of administrative units said that many candidates violated election instructions and posted photos and advertisements at will, causing visual pollution to the beauty of cities or villages, and explained that they would count the violations and write memos so that the provincial government could investigate them and make appropriate decisions.
