Dehong, China (Antara/PRNewswire) — On May 22, to mark the 24th International Day for Biological Diversity, H3C Group responded to the 2024 “Participation Plan” theme and jointly launched the “AI of Love – ICT Technology to Promote Biodiversity Conservation” public welfare project with the China Green Foundation. The initial phase of the project focuses on the Tongbiguan Provincial Nature Reserve, which is located in Yunnan Province, China’s westernmost tropical region, bordering Myanmar and close to the eastern part of Assam, India. This unique area is the only area in China with tropical biota in the Irrawaddy River system.

The ecosystem of Tongbiguan Nature Reserve is very rich, with 189 species of national endangered and key protected plants such as the sal tree and camphor, and 215 national key protected animals such as the Gaoligong white-browed gibbon, hornbill, and pangolin.
However, due to its remote location and complex terrain, the reserve faces many challenges. Illegal poaching, overgrazing, deforestation, and invasive alien species continue to exist, threatening the survival of local wildlife. The scientific research and resource management capabilities within the reserve also need to be improved urgently to protect these precious natural resources through more effective technical monitoring and protection measures.
In order to better integrate digital technology into species protection, H3C and the China Green Foundation donated nearly 300,000 yuan worth of smart devices to the nature reserve through the “AI of Love” project, aiming to enhance the monitoring, data collection and analysis capabilities of the nature reserve, and support staff to carry out biodiversity conservation work more accurately.

This move is in line with the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework released at the United Nations Biodiversity Conference (COP15) in December 2022, which sets the ambitious goal of protecting at least 30% of the world’s land and oceans by 2030. H3C’s contribution reflects its commitment to the international consensus on biodiversity conservation.
Zhang Yongsheng, director of the Tongbiguan Provincial Nature Reserve Administration, said: “The ‘AI for Love’ project provides valuable support to the reserve. The introduction of these smart devices will greatly improve our monitoring and research capabilities for tropical rainforest vegetation and national protected animals such as white-browed gibbons and hornbills. We believe these advanced technologies will make our conservation work more efficient and provide accurate data for scientific research.”
In addition, H3C’s efforts coincide with the “China Biodiversity Conservation Strategy and Action Plan (2023-2030)” released by the Ministry of Ecology and Environment in January 2024. The plan outlines the strategic direction and key tasks for biodiversity conservation in the new era, emphasizing the key role of technology in these efforts.
In the future, H3C Group will continue to pay attention to biodiversity conservation, and continue to increase the layout of BroadCast Unitedligent products and digital solutions in the field of biodiversity conservation. It hopes that through this biodiversity conservation action, it will encourage more companies and social forces to join the biodiversity conservation action and contribute to the construction of global ecological civilization.
