Steven Reyme Re-Elected A20 Chairman

Steven Reyme was re-elected as the president of the Alternative 2020 (A20) party at the party congress on Saturday. A large number of board members returned to the new board. After receiving the mandate from the parliament to further lead the party, Reyme promised to work for a fairer Suriname. He announced a closer collaboration with the partner DOE.

In addition to Reyme, the new board includes:
Graciëlla Chin A Foeng-Hardjopawiro: Secretary
Henk Leimert: Financial Director
Meredith Wright: Political Commissar
Guno Polak (Pala): Commissioner

Jan Betterson (Malovene): Commissioner

Pollack and Bateson are new members of the board.

In addition to the main board, an A20 Youth Council was formed, chaired by Leann Prins. Other members include: Richard Pinas, Joël Wirodikromo, Tachana Brown, Angelina Dinmohamed, Sercio Monkau and Grabiella Bendanon.

Reem stressed the importance of fighting injustice and resentment. He condemned the intimidation of dissidents over the years and advocated that the constitution must be respected. Investing in youth, education and the elderly are key points of Reem’s vision.

A20 is working with its partner party DOE to achieve electoral victory. Discussions on strengthening cooperation have made great progress. Party members are determined to take Suriname to greater heights. Rem concluded: “I am not a politician, but a leader who joins the group of politicians.”
