Not guilty on all counts. That was the verdict of the 12-person jury after about two hours of deliberation Thursday afternoon, acquitting Jeff Meitawan in connection with the theft of a Guam Fire Department ambulance last year. Meitawan was charged with burglary, theft of property, damage to government equipment and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, all charges related to crimes against the community. The trial lasted about a week in the courtroom of Superior Court Presiding Judge Alberto C. Lamorena III. “Obviously, I’m very pleased with the verdict because I knew all along without a doubt that Jeff did not steal the ambulance,” said Taylor Scott, Meitawan’s attorney and alternate public defender. “The jury spent about two hours deliberating.”
