Hashnet:

The Prime Minister of the legitimate government of Yemen, Dr. Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak, has revealed his government’s plans to inscribe the city of Aden on the World Heritage List.

Bin Mubarak said the government looks forward to supporting UNESCO in this regard, given that UNESCO has many cultural and historical components.

Today, Sunday, he received in Aden, the temporary capital, a delegation of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), which is currently visiting the country and Yemen, led by the Director of the Gulf Regional Office, Salah Khaled.

During the meeting, areas of cooperation and development mechanisms between Yemen and UNESCO were discussed, especially in the areas of education and culture, the cultural field, protection of human heritage, preservation of historical cities and archaeological sites damaged and destroyed as a result of the war with the Houthi militias.

He expressed that the Yemeni government hopes that UNESCO will provide more support for education in Yemen affected by the Houthi war and develop a systematically transformed educational curriculum to instill a culture of hatred and extremism in the hearts of children in areas controlled by the Houthi militias and the summer centers they have established.

The Prime Minister listened to the presentation by the head of the UNESCO delegation on the projects implemented by the Organization in Yemen and the Organization’s desire to develop areas of cooperation with the Government and launch a number of projects and programs in the cultural and educational fields. UNESCO has developed a 10-year plan to develop the education sector in Yemen and is preparing to hold a conference to help Yemen in this regard.
