New cancer drug to be launched later this year

Funding for medicines will come from pre-commitments in next year’s budget.

Minister of Health Dr Shane Reti.

The Coalition Government will increase funding to Pharmac by a further $604 million over the next four years so it can deliver up to 26 new cancer treatments and 28 other new medicines.

The announcement was made today by Health Minister Dr Shane Reti and Associate Health Minister David Seymour.
