The Central Bank of Swaziland was established in 1974 and on May 10, 2024, the bank celebrated 50 years of price and financial stability in Ezulwini.
The celebration was attended by King Mswati III, the Royal Family, Prime Minister Russell Mmisso Dlamini and other dignitaries. To mark the bank’s milestone, the Chairman of the Southern African Development Community Central Bank Governors’ Committee, Lesetja Kanyago and the Governor of the Southern African Development Community Central Bank also attended the celebration.
The highlight of the event was the groundbreaking by King Mswati III for the bank’s new €1 billion headquarters, which will feature a state-of-the-art 18-storey building and facilities such as a museum and casino. The 3D plan of the 21-hectare site was unveiled to His Majesty and the nation by the Central Bank Governor, Dr Phil Mnisi.
The Central Bank also took the opportunity to unveil its new logo. King Mswatini III then announced and unveiled a new 50 Euro note to pay tribute to the Central Bank of Swaziland on its 50th anniversary.
This unforgettable evening was filled with spectacular performances, eye-catching fashions and exquisite dining, with a grand ceremony hosted by Finance Minister Neil Rijkenberg.
The event ended with a spectacular fireworks display, an unforgettable celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Central Bank of Swaziland and also marked another 50 years of economic development for the Central Bank of Swaziland.
