Ugandans are unhappy with the controversial Minister of State for Investment and Privatisation at the Ministry of Finance, Evelyn Anite Kajik, who has been criticised for hypocrisy and double standards towards investors.
For their part, Annette, a trained journalist from Uganda Christian University, has turned her writing skills to blackmailing and attacking investors on social media platforms.
“She has strayed from her ministerial duties to take up a fight with investors and government officials twitter/X. The minister who tweeted is neither a government spokesperson nor a communications officer for an official department,” said activist John Mugizi.
He added: “One has to wonder whether her comments against investors represent the correct position of the government or her personal views. It is noteworthy that the appointing body she is trying to appease is aware of the current status of her case file.”

Her extortionate stance was further fueled by a heated meeting at the State House last Wednesday, where the president reportedly told her to toe her own line and stop confusing investors.
It was further confirmed that in order to carry out her plan, she secretly represented a company at the meeting, but the president himself knew the directors of the company very well.
According to reliable sources, the president publicly accused her of clashing with Robert Mukiza, the executive director of the Uganda Investment Authority.
When Annette falsely stated that she was innocent, the President said “shut up”, while Annette insisted that she wanted to clear her name.
Two hours after the meeting, Anit falsely accused Mukiza of abusing his power and embezzling taxpayers and beat the war drum on various media platforms.
The statement that “they are now using marriage relationships to cover up their corruption, but they will not succeed” may not be accepted by those in power.
Ironically, die-hard fans of “Tulimajie” have pointed the finger at the government she serves, calling it corrupt.
“She even printed posters depicting her funny face as a ‘saviour’ ready to save Uganda and Ugandans from corruption. After Koboko failed to win by putting up campaign posters and representing her constituents, she is now posing as the right person to fight corruption,” added Onono Charles, another activist.
In front of the President, Mukiza openly accused Anit of greed and protecting her own personal interests. Anit broke down and started crying in front of the President and asked him to protect her as she accused the UIA management of being liars.
Onono further added: “Her trivial behaviour in handling serious investment matters has led many to wonder whether she is fomenting a conspiracy or protecting the government’s stated policy towards investors.
The government’s various positions in communication and anti-corruption are well structured.
“Government has wisely established a full-fledged Office of the Inspector General of Government (IGG) under the Constitution to deal with corruption.
“It was very wise of the minister to use his position to air his discontent in the right forums. The Ugandan police and courts have also done a good job in arresting and prosecuting corrupt public servants.
“Anite would be better off joining existing platforms to fight corruption rather than launching new parallel movements. Anite holds public office and the time may come when the hunter will be hunted.
Anite needs to relax restrictions to allow capable investors to do business in accordance with the industrialization policy of the National Resistance Movement government. The National Resistance Movement has created a good investment environment which should not be destroyed by individuals whose intentions are under investigation.
“Ministers are setting a bad example by continuing to undermine the MDA-appointed executive director. She continues to accuse her own government of corruption, scaring off investors.
The Minister needs to know that lying to investors does not change the facts because their networks are so wide.”
Rejected by relatives
It is worth remembering that relatives in Annette’s constituency were aware of her complex behavior and voted no confidence in her.
After her defeat, she added to her shame by withdrawing donations of ambulances to pregnant women in her constituency.
This suggests that she believes in the theory of mutual benefit and will act differently when she does not receive anything in return. Her behavior toward investors should be thoroughly investigated in light of the theory of mutual benefit.
Frustrated locals and pregnant women in Koboko are still cursing the deputy minister for withdrawing a donated ambulance ahead of the 2020 National Resistance Movement primary elections.
“This is cheap politics. She brought the ambulance here to help pregnant women but did not make any deal with the people of Koboko to vote for her. We vote for those who are mature and willing to uplift the electorate. We thought Anite was mature until she withdrew the ambulance, putting patients at risk. We are waiting for her in 2026,” an angry resident charged in an interview with this publication.
Anite lost the NRM primary to Charles Ayume and was so upset that it was like the end of the world. Instead of campaigning for Ayume under the NRM banner in the area, she took out her anger on the voters, causing many to question whether she was a true NRM cadre.
When she showed up in Koboko in 2021, voters forced her to get into her powerful SUV Land Cruiser and leave them alone.
Despite her smaller personal contribution, the people of Koboko went on to oust the NUP candidate and voted overwhelmingly for Ayume. If she wants to continue serving the government, she needs to focus on redeeming the constituency instead of pressuring investors.
Little was known about Anite’s background until the 2015 Kyakwanzi incident, when she unexpectedly knelt to thank President Museveni and asked caucus members to support her as the sole candidate. Anite, a Northern youth representative in parliament, caught the president’s attention with her comical gesture and miraculously made it to the cabinet list.
