SHIJIAZHUANG, April 20 (Xinhua) — No effort will be spared to build Xiong’an New Area, a new economic zone spanning three counties in Hebei province, provincial leaders said Thursday.
At the plenary session of the Shandong Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China, Shandong Provincial Party Secretary Zhao Kezhi proposed taking a people-centered development path, emphasizing the need to be guided by public opinion and to effectively resolve problems that arise in the process of relocation of people and enterprises.
He said the region will improve public services such as employment, education, health care and social security.
Zhao Lijian said the real estate industry should be subject to the strictest control to prevent real estate speculation. Housing prices and land prices in Xiongan New Area and surrounding areas should be controlled.
He said population and housing policies will be formulated based on the functions of the new district.
He said the area’s urban planning will meet the standards of a first-class international city. The planning will reflect traditional elements and put the environment first.
Acting provincial governor Xu Qin also stressed the need to control real estate development in Xiongan New Area, as well as Housing Pricesplanning and population of surrounding areas.
Xu Bing said that the new district will do a good job in taking over the non-capital functions of Beijing, actively introduce high-end industries, and promote regional coordinated development.
On April 1, China announced the establishment of the Xiongan New Area.
Located about 100 kilometers southwest of Beijing, the new district is expected to solve Beijing’s “urban diseases” such as traffic congestion and air pollution by curbing the capital’s population growth and relocating non-capital functions out of Beijing.
