Alaska Airlines and flight attendants reach ‘record-breaking’ tentative labor agreement

Alaska AirlinesThe flight attendants’ union said on Friday it had reached a “record-breaking” tentative labor agreement with the airline, ending years of lack of a new contract for cabin crew who have been demanding pay rises.

Details of the federally mediated deal were not immediately released. The AAC said it would be reviewed by union leadership and then voted on by the rank-and-file membership.

one day ago, American airlinesThe flight attendants union said that negotiations on a new contract have broken down and that union members should prepare to strike. However, a company spokesman said that the two sides “made good progress in negotiations this week and added more elements to the industry-leading proposal we have been discussing for months.”

United Airlines is also negotiating a new contract with its flight attendants union.

Strikes in the U.S. airline industry are extremely rare. If no agreement is reached, there could be a 30-day cooling-off period, after which a work stoppage is likely.
