A golf tournament that was supposed to be a chance for Guam’s first responders to relax became an unexpected gathering of heroes as off-duty police officers and firefighters were called in to save lives. The Guam Hotel and Restaurant Association on Thursday recognized members of the Guam Fire Department and Guam Police Department for helping to resuscitate an unconscious man during the second annual GHRA Memorial Heroes Golf Tournament. Pacific Country Club General Manager Jon Kramer was also recognized for providing an automated external defibrillator to revive the man. Deputy Fire Chief Joey San Nicolas, one of the off-duty firefighters who arrived on the scene, recounted how it took GFD and GPD personnel 16 minutes to extricate the man who had fallen to the ground during the May 18 incident.
