Ukraine is banned from using US weapons to attack major Russian airports.
Milli.Az cites report.az as reporting that The Washington Post published information on the matter with reference to its sources.
As a result, Ukrainian officials told the publication that the United States has limited the use of its weapons to more than 100 kilometers from the border. The newspaper said that the main airports that have not been hit by American weapons have given Russia a huge advantage.
Pentagon spokesman Major Charlie Dietz said Kiev could use it to protect areas where Russian forces try to seize Ukrainian territory:
“It has nothing to do with geography or a specific radius, but if Russia attacks or prepares to attack Ukraine from its territory, then Ukraine has the ability to retaliate against forces attacking it from the other side of the border. Kiev also has the ability to attack Russian aircraft if they allow bombing of Ukrainian airspace using air defense systems provided by Washington.”
The newspaper writes that, as White House and Pentagon officials pointed out in their statements, the Ukrainian armed forces do not have much freedom of action. Kyiv sources point out that the Ukrainian armed forces are restricted in organizing attacks on Russia within range.
