Haiti-Mmas: Official communication channel established between CPT and Kenya

Republican lawmakers have been blocking funding for the Multinational Security Support Mission in Haiti for months.

But this week, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken authorized $109 million for Mmas, bypassing opposition from Republican lawmakers on the basis of the “nuclear option.”

In Nairobi, a number of legal challenges have also delayed the mission’s deployment.

Since Monday, October 2, 2023, this deployment has been authorized by United Nations Organization Resolution 2699.according to a request made on Thursday, October 7, 2022 by the then de facto government.
