The CEO stressed, “In addition to providing electricity to the people, we are also pleased to be part of an initiative to unite the Solomon Islands through sports, especially youth participation. Solomon Power is proud to partner with the Solomon Islands Basketball Federation to support our young people through sponsorship.”
He concluded: “Our collaboration will go a long way in empowering and uniting the youth of Solomon Islands to realise their potential in basketball.”
In her response, SIBF Women’s League President Gloria Hong formally acknowledged Solomon Power’s recognition and support.
Hong said this is a historic milestone for women’s basketball as it is the first time that women’s basketball has received major corporate sponsorship.
“Your sponsorship will greatly contribute to the growth, development and overall success of this tournament as we aim to represent the women’s basketball league at a higher level and promote healthy lifestyles through the sport while developing talent of all ages,” she said.
The President said that SIBF is very excited about the prospect of working with Solomon Power and hopes to gain the valuable support of Solomon Power to bring positive impact to the Women’s Basketball League.
She added: “SIBF is very encouraged by this partnership and recognition from Solomon Power, especially for providing our women’s basketball team with the opportunity to compete in this prestigious competition this year.”
The chairman also explained that basketball has been on hold for a long time and the priority for the new board is to revive basketball not only at the high level but also among youth and children.
She added: “We want to see more women and girls taking up basketball and this support from Solomon Power will help inspire and grow women’s basketball.”
The women’s league is expected to start at the end of July this year, and registration is now officially open for clubs and teams.
