Youkang assisted the opening of the 12th “Sons of the Sun” Environmental Protection Festival

The 12th “Sunchild” International Environmental Protection Festival kicked off with the support of Ucom. This year’s festival is dedicated to biodiversity conservation and will feature more than 30 environmental films, which will be screened at the Armenian Union of Cinematographers from May 24 to 28 with free admission.

In addition to the fantastic film screenings, the festival will also host the Youth Corner, which will offer an expo and a variety of workshops over four days. These engaging sessions provide young people with insights into leadership environments and educational programs, promote participation in the workshops and stimulate discussion.

At the festival’s opening ceremony, attendees watched Masha Kapkina’s short film, The Last Nightingale, which tells the story of a composer’s transformative journey sparked by a chance encounter with forest sounds, inspiring her career shift toward recording wildlife and addressing the climate crisis through acoustic insights.

It is worth noting that the 12th “Sunchild” International Environmental Festival is supported by the Yerevan City Government, the US Forest Service, the Fund for the Protection of Wildlife and Cultural Values, and the British Council Armenia.
