Seven people were killed and two were injured in the northeastern Brazilian city of Viscosa do Ceará in the early hours of Thursday.

According to a statement released by the gendarmerie, the massacre took place in a square in the city center, about 350 kilometers from Fortaleza, the capital of Ceará state.
According to witnesses, the victims were celebrating in the square when several men approached the scene and shot them at close range.
The attackers fled the scene in two vehicles after the attack, killing seven people and injuring two.
Ceará state governor Hermano de Freitas expressed dismay at the events, calling them “unacceptable.”
I extend my deepest condolences to family and friends through social networks.
