According to the Associated Press, Spencer Warren, a worker for Alaska Adventure Destinations, was arriving for work at Beluga Lake in Homer around 6:30 a.m. Friday when he heard a sound he initially thought was a bird.
As he was heading to the dock to prepare for his seaplane trip that day, he noticed the noise was not coming from birds, but from a baby moose that was stuck between the aircraft’s pontoons and the dock.

Warren told the outlet that his first thought was, “Oh my God, where is my mom? I know she’s nearby.”

Although one of the calf’s legs became stuck on top of the aircraft’s float, rescuers were able to pull the moose safely out of the water.
“You know, thank God he wasn’t moving, which made it a little easier,” Warren said. “We just lifted him right out and laid him on the dock.”
