Yesterday, Sunday, Kuwait’s new Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah took the constitutional oath to assume the mantle of the country’s Deputy Emir Sheikh Meshaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, pledging “to remain determined and steadfast, always true to his oath, a staunch keeper of the covenant and a faithful advisor.”

The official Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) reported that this came after the emir issued an order appointing Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah as crown prince, a day after he recommended him.

According to Kuwait News Agency, the crown prince was received by the country’s emir at the Saif Palace in the Kuwaiti capital yesterday morning, Sunday, and he took the constitutional oath on the occasion of his appointment as deputy emir. The agency quoted the crown prince as saying after taking the oath: “Go forward with the blessings of God, and his care and concern will surround you.”

The prince added: “We congratulate ourselves and the respected people of Kuwait on your inauguration as Crown Prince, and we hope that Almighty Allah will grant you success and guide you on the path of goodness to continue the development and renaissance of our dear country. What is good for the motherland and its loyal children, the state and its servants.”

The Crown Prince of Kuwait made a speech, saying: “I received your noble order to recommend me for the post of Crown Prince with the most sincere appreciation and gratitude. I admire your wishes with great pride and deeply thank you for your valuable support. I believe I have received from your high position. “

He added: “When I feel the honor of this task, the greatness of the responsibility entrusted to me and the weight of the trust that rests on my shoulders, I will bear it before God, then before you, before you. “Dear people of Kuwait, I pledge to you with a firm resolve that I will always be faithful to my oath, to be a keeper of a firm and solid covenant, and to be your loyal advisor, dedicated to the service of my country and faithful to its interests. “Preserve its security and stability, uphold its values, originality and unity, work to improve and advance it, be committed to the teachings of our true Islamic religion and observe our established national constants.”

He continued: “In this regard, I pray to Almighty God to help me shoulder the precious responsibility of being the best support and help to your wise leadership and support your efforts, and I make my highest supplication to Almighty God to protect you.”

He expressed his wish that under your wise leadership, the security, stability of our beloved country will be maintained, further progress and advancement will be achieved, and your steps will be guided to success on the wonderful path.

The swearing-in ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmed Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah and senior state officials.
