Anton Radchenko, founder of AirAdvisor, outlines his top three tips for ensuring you get compensation for a cancelled flight.

Anton advises that you should never accept vouchers as a form of compensation, as regulations require airlines to pay you in cash.

It also advises claimants to lodge their claims soon after cancellation, rather than weeks or months later, as early reporting is “more likely to be successful”.

Finally, he says you should keep all of your luggage tags and all of your expense receipts as proof of the amount you owe.

He added: “At any given time, airlines may be dealing with thousands or even tens of thousands of compensation claims, so you should speed up the process by ensuring you can prove you travelled on the flight you are claiming.”

“Sometimes you may not be able to access your ticket, so prepare supporting evidence such as an email from the airline about your flight, luggage tags, receipts from your departure airport, and a scan of your passport stamp.”
