VIDEO/PHOTOS: Residents living near the West Baba Courthouse in Liguan, Dededo, were advised to stay indoors or evacuate Tuesday afternoon as smoke filled the area. Fire crews were battling a structure fire that lasted several hours, according to Guam Fire Department spokesman Lt. Nick Garrido. Firefighters were called to the area after receiving reports of the fire at 1:11 p.m., and they were still on scene battling the blaze Tuesday afternoon. Garrido said fire crews arrived to find an unoccupied concrete building fully engulfed in flames. Aside from nearby residents, firefighters’ main concern was Liguan Elementary School. He said the Guam Fire Department contacted the principal, who moved students to the safest part of the school grounds and told them to shelter in place.
