Fijian President Ratu William Katoniwere has met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the Ukraine peace summit in Switzerland.

He said Fiji not only voted in favour of the UN General Assembly resolution calling for Russia to immediately withdraw from Ukraine, but also worked with the international community, particularly the United States, to seize a Russian superyacht linked to a sanctioned oligarch.
“Fiji recognises that this conflict has had wide-ranging global impacts, including in the Pacific region,” Katoniville said.
“We commend your leadership and the resilience of the Ukrainian people.
“You can continue to count on Fiji’s support.”
The Fijian government said President Zelensky welcomed Fiji’s participation in the summit and supported peace talks.

Russia called the Swiss campaign a waste of time and President Vladimir Putin said on Friday he would agree to a ceasefire if Ukraine withdrew its troops from four regions that Russia partially occupied and claims to have annexed.
