A fire broke out at a Barnes Oysters store in Invercargill this evening.
A Fire and Emergency New Zealand (Fenz) spokesman said firefighters were called to a commercial building on Spey Street after an alarm sounded about 6.30pm.
“There was a small fire inside the building that has been extinguished so there was no major damage to the building or anything like that.”
As of 7:15 p.m., firefighters remained on scene to investigate the cause of the fire and ensure it was “fully extinguished.”
Finz notified police of the fire, and officers went to the building to “check it out,” but the fire was not considered suspicious.
No one was injured as the building was unattended.
