Tazabek — Chairman of the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission Sagintayev held talks with Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment of the Republic of Cuba Ricardo Ruiz Cabrisas at the headquarters of the European Community on June 13. This was reported on the EEC website.

During the meeting, the parties discussed a wide range of issues on the integrated cooperation agenda.

“The Republic of Cuba is one of the main partners of the Eurasian Economic Union in Latin America and the Caribbean. At the same time, the country is working to expand our cooperation,” noted B. Sagintayev.

The two sides interacted within the framework of the Joint Action Plan between the Commission and the Government of the Republic of Cuba, which covers 34 areas of cooperation, including trade, banking, finance, biotechnology, agriculture, information and communication technologies, etc. The trade volume between the Eurasian Economic Union and Cuba reached $290 million in 2023.

The President of the EC Council stated that the EC Commission and the integration union countries are currently exploring the possibility of observer states joining individual treaties within the Eurasian Economic Union and participating in specific cooperation and infrastructure projects.

The parties noted that it is important to deepen the dialogue between entrepreneurs. The implementation of the cooperation agreement between the Business Council of the Eurasian Economic Union and the Cuban Chamber of Commerce will help strengthen economic and trade interactions.
