Hashnet:
Israel’s Walla website reported on Saturday that a large number of army reserve officers have harshly criticized political leaders after eight Israeli soldiers were killed in the Gaza Strip.
According to the website, an officer said, “The fighting model in Rafah is flawed and military operations should be conducted in a faster and more decisive manner.”
Another officer told the Israeli website that “there is a feeling among senior Army Reserve officers that many of the missions in Gaza do not have a clear purpose.”
The official stressed that such problems would be detrimental to and “damage the morale of local military commanders and fighters.”
One officer said the Rafah operation needed to be sped up and conducted in a different manner, but officials decided to proceed in a similar manner to other areas such as Khan Younis.
The Israeli army announced on Saturday that eight soldiers had been killed in the southern Gaza Strip, as it continued its incursions into the city of Rafah and its surroundings and continued its bombing of several areas in the Gaza Strip, killing at least 19 Palestinians.
The eight soldiers, all from the Israeli Combat Engineer Corps, were killed when an explosion in their armored personnel carrier caused the materials they were carrying to explode, in what appeared to be a reversal of normal practice, the military added.
The military said it was investigating the incident in the Tal Sultan district west of Rafah early Saturday morning.
