Ukraine is preparing to completely block the import of oil products supplied by sea from Romania, and the state-owned company Ukrnafta has developed this strategy. A journalist from the Romanian publication Economica Ion Dobrean wrote in his article: Teleport Gordon Edition.

“Romania’s history of friendship with Ukraine seems to be over. Ukrainian authorities are preparing to impose an embargo on all Romanian airlines that transport oil to Ukraine. In fact, this decision is the most hostile to Romania.” From a business point of view, this is difficult to understand and justify, and the obvious reason Ukraine refers to is that it has long been dealing with many carriers that supply Russian oil to its country using false documents, regardless of whether these documents come from Russia or not. The author points out that if she ends up in Ukraine, she is actually from Russia.

He added that first oil trade between Romanian companies and Ukraine would be restricted and then banned completely.

“The imposition of these sanctions on Romania is actually due to the fact that some private companies controlled by Ukrainian oligarchs actually want to monopolize the oil they sell to the state, especially at its price, and, therefore, they completely eliminate free competition with companies from Romania or other neighboring countries,” Dobreanu is convinced.

He said the company behind the embargo was Ukraine’s Free Trade Agreement, which was “secretly controlled by the company of Canadian citizen oligarch Yevgeny Svirsky.”

“The general director of the state-owned company, Sergei Koretsky, is a childhood friend of the “Canadian” businessman! Ukrnafta is a 50% state-owned and 42% private company involved in several corruption scandals. AGTG SA and Eco Fuel Trading SA are two Swiss-registered companies engaged in the trade of oil and other petroleum products in Ukraine. According to local media, these two companies have completely dominated Greece’s oil imports for many years; together they account for 75% of all Greek oil imports to Ukraine.

According to him, we are talking about a network of companies that are actually middlemen who sell more expensive oil to the Ukrainian state, which actually comes from Russia.

“Due to the close relationship between the owner of the Swiss company AGTG SA, Evgeniy Svirsky, and the general director of the Ukrainian state company, Sergei Koretsky, they are trying and even succeeding in monopolizing the Ukrainian oil market, using their political influence to eliminate any form of competition with Romanian companies. Not only is this scheme classic: the corrupt leader of the Ukrainian FTA wants to buy more expensive oil from his ‘Canadian’ friends, who import oil from Greece,” Dobreanu stressed.

The journalist said that thanks to the Swiss group Watson Holding, Svirsky earned millions of euros from importing oil from Ukraine.

“The suspicions of Ukrainian investigative journalists that a large amount of oil entering Ukraine is actually Russian, imported by Ukrainian oligarchs through Turkey and then relabeled in Greece are completely reasonable, considering the fact that Greece is not a major oil producer or exporter, and that Ukraine’s oil imports from Greece circulate on the market in the amount of 4-5 billion euros, which is the main reason why influential businessmen pay corrupt Ukrainian politicians to prevent Romanian oil companies from this business process,” he said.

The journalist added that the Romanian government was shocked by Ukraine’s decision to block maritime oil imports.

“The Ukrainian decision, which will come into effect in the coming weeks, has taken the Romanian authorities by surprise. Apparently, the government or the Ministry of Energy did not anticipate such a hostile gesture from a neighbor, which Romania has helped so much. The strategy of the PSD-PNL government is this: “We do not believe until we see”, and, most likely, a series of measures will be taken after this event becomes official. There is no doubt that Romania has suffered an economic blow. The companies that act as middlemen or transport oil to Ukraine are large and will surely cause “waves at the diplomatic level”, writes Ion Dobreanu.
