The 2024 U.S. Open has arrived, with two days of golf on one of America’s most iconic courses, Pinehurst No. 2. It’s been a tough journey so far for the star-studded field, with just a few minor missteps needed to knock some of the big names off the leaderboard. On Saturday, the action continues in North Carolina as players vie for the third major of the year.

The Big Three who were once favored to lead the U.S. Open—Scotty Scheffler, Xander Schauffele and Rory McIlroy—now only have one left to contend for the national championship. McIlroy is two shots behind the leader, while Scheffler barely made the cut and Schauffele is barely in contention. Rory is seeking his first major in a decade, but he still has a long way to go to achieve that goal.

Leading the way is 24-year-old Ludvig Åberg, who made a brilliant debut as a major champion after a strong performance in the last Ryder Cup. After a solo second place at the Masters and missing the cut at the PGA Championship, Åberg played better than anyone else at Pinehurst. He is currently 5 under, one shot ahead of Bryson DeChambeau, 18-hole co-leader Patrick Cantlay and Thomas Detry.
