Next week, a book launch will be held in Colombo to mark Mr Anton Marcus’ 50th anniversary of trade union membership.

Mr. Marcus currently serves as Joint Secretary of the Free Trade Zone and Public Employees Union.

The book, Humanitarians Without Borders, and its Sinhala version will be launched at the Sri Lanka Foundation College, Colombo on June 17 at 3.30 pm.

The book is written by political columnist and analyst Kusal Perera.

Honorary ProfessorProfessor Jayadeva Uyangoda and Mr Robert Reed, former president and secretary general of the New Zealand First Alliance, will give guest lectures.
Mr. Kusal Perera said in an interview with Sri Lanka Mirror:

“I tried to describe Anton in this book and throughout his fifty years of union life, and the backdrop of the book is Sri Lankan politics. Because he was a political figure himself. So my reading is that despite the rights, decency and dignity that are given by the constitution, international law and everything that Anton fought for, it is not easy in a world of the rich, no matter what glorious labels people give them.”
