The Maligakanda Magistrates Court today ordered that former Health Minister Mr. Keheliya Rambukwella be remanded in custody till the 28th.
The former minister, who was arrested in connection with the importation of substandard immunoglobulin injections, was arrested on February 2 last year.
He was arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
The Malikakanda district court has ordered that seven other suspects in the case, who were remanded along with Keheria, be further remanded in custody.
Meanwhile, the Attorney General’s Department today informed the Supreme Court that it will not represent former Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella and arrested National Drug Regulatory Authority officials in the matter of purchasing drugs from two allegedly unregistered companies.
