Today was our second defeat in a row. Last week we lost 0-3 to Apoel at home and today we lost 2-0 to Apollon away. I think this ends our hopes of reaching the top four of the tournament. The absence of Jose Manuel Rey, Jao Paiva and Pavel Pergl is not an excuse for today’s defeat. If anyone tries to use this as an excuse, they should be considered a lunatic and sent to a mental hospital! As 10 of their main players were absent for various reasons, Apollon played with their “substitute” players.
We had a chance to get into the top four but we blew it! We should have taken advantage of Apollo’s absence and the game was played in front of empty stands without their enthusiastic supporters (due to Apollo being punished by the Chinese Football Association).
Apollo played better today, won the match fairly and could have even scored more goals.
Booked: Demetrio-Michael, Cassio, Tininho
Apollo: Svalovski, Baron, Oseni, Moustakas, Garpozis, Mahraghi, Koroslovski, Torresi (90’+3′ goal), Demetrio (80′ Avram), Rizzo (69′ goal), Asulin (90’+1′ Nikolaou)
AEK: Augusti, Papo (70′ Adorno), Nikolaou (65′ Ilic), Kiriakou (75′ Ranem), Tininho, Christou, Cassio, Mikaher, Gonzalez, Neofitou, Kingsley
