Tomorrow, with the support of TBC, the “Eliso” Award ceremony will be held

For the first time in Georgia, the Eliso Award will be awarded to outstanding works in Georgian cinema with the support of TBC and organized by the NATO Vakhnadze Foundation. Winners will be selected in three categories: Best Director, Best Actor and Best Cinematographer. The winners will be selected by a jury composed of Georgian and international cinematographers.

The award ceremony will be held tomorrow at the Nato Vakhnadze House-Museum in Gurjany. June 14 is the 120th anniversary of Nato Vakhnadze’s birth, and NATO also celebrates this day according to tradition.

The Eliso Award is the first project of the NATO Vachnadze Foundation, which aims to recognize outstanding works in Georgian cinema. This year, the award has limited nominations for the first time. The members of the NATO Vachnadze Foundation are representatives of various artistic fields, including Nino Kirtadze, Rezo Kiknadze, Ketevan Shavgulidze, Guram Ghongadze and others.

Eliso is Nikoloz Sanglaia’s most successful film and remains of great significance today. The beginning of the Georgian avant-garde, it is known for its innovative narrative and montage. In Georgian silent films, female characters are often victims of oppression, while the film’s protagonist, Eliso, is a hero who goes against the tide. Kira Andronikashvili, sister of Nato Vachnadze and a victim of Soviet repression, plays Eliso.

The overall supporter of “Eliso” is TBC. The main partners are Gurjaani Library and Museum Union, Tegeta, Coca-Cola, Gulf, Sarajishvili, etc.
