On May 10, 2024, Timor-Leste participated in the 30th China-ASEAN Senior Officials Consultation Meeting held at the ASEAN Secretariat in Jakarta. 
The meeting reviewed the development of China-ASEAN relations and discussed the future development direction of China-ASEAN comprehensive strategic partnership as well as regional and international issues. 
As an observer state of the organization, Timor-Leste has the opportunity to express some views and express its appreciation for the progress of cooperation between ASEAN and China in various fields and initiatives discussed. The national delegation also emphasized the importance Timor-Leste attaches to the three pillars of ASEAN and various forms of cooperation in related fields, expressing its willingness to contribute to and participate in these cooperative efforts and initiatives in the future. 
The meeting was co-chaired by Khintinda Aye, Director-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Myanmar, and Sun Weidong, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China. Many leaders of the ASEAN Senior Officials’ Meeting, members of the ASEAN Secretariat and Timor-Leste attended as observers. The Timor-Leste delegation was led by Elisa da Silva, Director-General of ASEAN Affairs, and was accompanied by Counselor Crisonio de Araujo and ASEAN Liaison Representative Ivan Alves.
